We were set up on a blind date. I met Grant's brother and his wife at church and they had the idea to put us together. Our first date was July 24, 2004. Grant picked me up at my parent's house and we went to Lupe Tortilla for dinner (if you want to woo me, get me chips and queso) and we spent the rest of the evening on the lawn of the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands, enjoying a John Mayer concert.
He first kissed me on my 20th birthday.
On my 21st birthday, he proposed on stage. I was performing that summer in a production of Anne of Green Gables. After the final song and curtain call, Grant surprised me by walking on stage and proposing in front of the entire cast, audience, and a ridiculous amount of our family and friends that had attended the performance. My 21st birthday party was hijacked and turned into an engagement party.
We were married December 30, 2006.
Since then, we've moved from Louisiana to Houston. We lived in multiple apartments and bought our first house in December 2009.
Job changes, ups and downs, in sickness and in health... God has blessed us beyond measure and we are so thankful for how He has guided us through this beautiful life.
On November 11, 2011, we found out we were pregnant. In July 2012, we welcomed our precious Ellie Paige.
She is a joy and a delight! She is full of spunk, silliness, and sweetness.
The verse we chose for her:
"Yahweh your God is among you, a warrior who saves. He will rejoice over you with gladness. He will bring you quietness with His love. He will delight in you with shouts of joy." - Zephaniah 3:17
In late February 2015, (right before we packed up and moved out to Katy) we found out that we were once again pregnant.
Jackson Charles joined our family November 2015.
We love spending time with our family (both in Texas and Louisiana) our friends, and we love music. He plays guitar, I play piano. Ellie plays her toy xylophone. Grant works in IT and loves golf, hunting, and fishing. And Call of Duty. Jen stays at home and enjoys reading, writing, television, social media, and food. And avoiding laundry.
