So I've Got Some Issues...

I've been going to bed way too late. However, I'm still on a great schedule of waking up early, and I even run several mornings a week, so the whole midnight-bedtime situation isn't really the best practice. I am Mrs. Sleepyhead the rest of the day. So, last night I was all determined to get to bed at a decent hour. 10:30pm, to be exact. Still late for some people, but it was hours earlier than usual for me. And I did it. I was in bed at 10:30pm. And I fell asleep quickly. And I was so pleased with myself. "I'm gonna have so much energy tomorrow! I'm gonna get up and run and have a good morning and I will only have one cup of coffee and I will be full of energy!" (Insert sound of buzzer here.) WRONG.

A few months ago, I started having weird stomach cramps that would wake me up around 2am. I am in moderate pain for a few hours (I'm not in agony, but I definitely can't sleep.) It happened several nights a week for a few months. I finally saw a doctor who ordered an ultrasound to see if I had gallstones. I do not. He assumes I am dealing with a stomach ulcer. Good times. However, I haven't had an episode in several weeks. I thought maybe I was in the clear. (Insert sound of buzzer here.) WRONG.

Two in the morning. On the dot. I was up. And I was hurting. However, knowing the drill on these little episodes, I didn't thrash around for the first hour. I do the following:

1. Get out of bed and pace
2. Take Pepto Bismol
3. Take Aleve
4. Drink water
5. Go back and think through what I ate today to see if there was anything new or different. (There never is)
6. Start with the Googling. Google terms: "Stomach Cramps at 2am" "Gallbladder attack" "Gallstones" "Stomach cancer" "Stomach cancer symptoms" "Can Tums help with cramps" "Stomach tumors" "Gas pain" "How much Pepto Bismol is safe to take" "I'm dying"
7. Start with the Yoga. (To clarify: I'm not really a yoga person. But, a few months ago during one of my episodes, I did some Googling and learned there are some yoga poses that relieve stomach pain. So I do those poses. I'm sure I'm doing them incorrectly as I am not very flexible and have no yoga experience whatsoever.)
8. Get on the living room floor and rock back and forth. (Side note: I usually do this with a blanket over me because I find the living room floor to be quite cold.)
9. Get on the couch and play Sudoku or Bejeweled on my iPad.
10. Rock on the floor some more.
11. More Pepto
12. Get back in bed, turn the heating pad on the highest setting and put it on my stomach and fall asleep.

When all is said and done, I am awake from about 2am-5am. The pain always eventually subsides after a few hours and I have no after effects the next day except for being extraordinarily tired.

This is a girl who overslept and didn't get any of her morning tasks accomplished.

And that was my 2nd cup of coffee.

Anyways, I feel absolutely fine right now. I'm just hoping it doesn't happen again tonight. To be honest, I could go to another doctor, but I've been to about 4 different doctors for a variety of issues in the last 30 days and I'm just over it.

Other than that, we had a wonderful day. I introduced Ellie to Play-Doh and I'm so glad I did. Kept her entertained for an hour. And then after her nap, she asked for it again. She played for another hour! Glory!

And tonight I made this:

That, my friends, is Spicy Parmesan Shrimp Pasta. I found it on the Pinterest.

It. Was. Delicious. I'm not a big shrimp eater, but my Cajun husband is. He likes the spicy and the shrimp. I like the parmesan and the pasta. Because gluten is my love language. Highly recommend this recipe! And hey, are you following me on Pinterest? You should! I've been on a big pinning kick lately. Mostly food. My favorite part of Pinterest is the food.

The kitchen is clean, the toddler is asleep in bed, my tummy is not hurting and I'm going to get in the  most unflattering, mega-comfy pajamas I have and chillax on my couch. I'll try running again tomorrow. Lord knows I need to, after all the carbs. GLUTEN FOREVER.
